Ericsson demos 160 Mb mobile broadband
Friday 29 August 2008To show the world the future of mobile broadband, Ericsson has been demonstrating its latest development in mobile broadband technology with connection speeds of up to 160 Mbps.
The Long Term Evolution (LTE) is to become the replacement for 3G and will eventually become known as 4G. However if 160 Mbps is mind blowing enough, the ultimate goal is provide a mobile broadband service that delivers a staggering 1 Gb by the year 2013!
The engineers who demonstrated the system actually cheated slightly by having a computer with a dedicated link. No matter what the exact evolution is, though, mobile broadband is set to change drastically over the next five years.
